Topic: Sports Nutrition Needs for Child and Adolescent Athletes
Liz Fox enters her 2nd year as the Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition for the University Athletic Association at the University of Florida. Fox is responsible for providing nutrition counseling and education to student athletes, overseeing training table menu development and delivery, and working coordinating the development of standards of practice for sports science procedures and high-risk athletes. A 2008 graduate of Saint Louis University, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics while competing for the women’s soccer team. Fox continued her studies at Saint Louis University, completing her master’s degree in nutrition and physical performance in 2010, while also serving as the sports dietitian for all of athletics. She spent the next 4 years as the sports dietitian and assistant professor at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. Fox is a board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD), and is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American College of Sports Medicine, and Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group. She recently (May 2016) co-authored a textbook on sports nutrition needs for child and adolescent athletes.
