Athletic & Training Background
Athletically, I was a 3 sport athlete in high school playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. I had aspirations to continuing playing baseball in college but secondary to injuries and pursuit of the best education in physical therapy I elected not to play in college. I did play intramural soccer as well as intramural volleyball throughout college. Presently, I continue to play and coach soccer. I also play in a competitive kickball league year round. Currently, I also workout/lift 5 days a week using a variety of different techniques from traditional training to CrossFit type training.
Current Role Working with Athletes
As a clinician, our clinic provides athletic training services to 6 local high schools and as a result I treat athletes on a regular basis in the clinic. Furthermore, our clinic has partnered with a local orthopedic office to begin injury prevention training seminars for each sports season at the local schools. We have designed an organization entitled the Finger Lakes Sports Medicine Institute (www.fingerlakessportsmedicine.com) We also are currently in the process of opening a fitness facility designed to provide local athletes a place to enhance their athletic performance.
My treatment philosophies include an emphasis on the combination of hands on techniques including spinal and extremity manipulation/mobilization/IASTM/dry needling with functional exercise targeted at improving mobility deficits and strength deficits. I also combine the aforementioned with principles of McKenzie based examination, evaluation, and treatment. The goal of all my treatment is to return the athlete or patient back to sport/activity as quickly and safely as possible.
