Current Role Working With Athletes

Dr. Parkinen is currently working with athletes at Saddleback CrossFit in Mission Viejo, Ca. She hosts monthly movement workshops at the gym focusing on foundational movements and stability to improve movement patterns and prevent injury. Dr. Parkinen also treats athletes at her chiropractic clinic where she focuses on balancing the nervous system to facilitate healing and enhance athletic performance.

Professional Philosophy

Dr. Parkinen believes the body has the ability to self-heal and self-regulate. However, there are often circumstances that prevent the body from being able to accomplish this. As a chiropractor, she strives to provide individualized care to each patient. It is her goal to find the cause of a condition, rather than treating symptoms. Whether it is a problem with the nervous system, a muscle imbalance, joint restriction, faulty movement pattern, or nutritional deficiency, each patient is provided with a custom plan to facilitate healing, enhance performance, and improve quality of life.

Starting with foundational drills such as breathing, bracing, and primal movements is an important aspect of patients’ treatment plans. Dr. Parkinen believes building from a strong foundation will create better outcomes. Once basic skills are mastered, rehab plans are created to address specific imbalances and correct poor movement, allowing patients to move functionally and pain free.
