Presently, I'm the clinic director for Physiotherapy Associates of Crosby, TX. I see people of all ages but has a keen interest in patients and clients who want to take back their independence and make the most out of their lives.
I started my career as a strength and conditioning professional back in 1995 while pursuing a graduate degree in Human Performance from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Training athletes and clients became my first love, but I quickly recognized the need for coaches who had expertise in both rehabilitation and athletic performance. With that in mind, I earned a graduate degree in Physical Therapy (MPT) from UTMB in 2002 and eventually went on to earn a board-certification in orthopedic physical therapy and a post-professional Doctorate of Science (ScD) in physical therapy from Texas Tech University. Along the way I also became a certified nutrition coach with Precision Nutrition. I've worked hard develop my skills as a coach and clinician. I also love what I do!
Dr. Henderson is a minimalist when it comes to rehabilitation and athletic performance. A well-designed rehabilitation and movement program provides enough quality physical and mental stress yet also provides the athlete adequate time and resources for a good recovery and overall enjoyment of life. Fundamental movements trained with the right mindset, amount, and intensity are essential to a long and healthy athletic career. Those things are also essential to a long and healthy life!
Sessions with me tend to be focused but fun. We work hard on the basics and establish a baseline of quality fundamental movement patterns. There's also quite a bit of exploration involved. You'll push, pull, squat, carry, and lift things overhead. You'll also roll, crawl, and climb! It's a basic curriculum but you'll learn a lot! Best of all you'll come away with a better understanding of how to move and stay healthy.
Give me a call and let's talk about how we can get you back on track! You can also reach me via my Twitter account @headstrongPT.
"No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”- Socrates
