Current Role Working With The Athletic Population
I have spent the majority of my career in professional baseball - both as a Physical Therapist and Strength & Conditioning coach. I have transitioned to a specialized private practice with a focus on manual therapy, rehab and sport performance for athletes. I work primarily with overhead and rotational athletes, as well as Crossfit and strength athletes.
Professional Philosophy
While I do believe that it is very important to treat an athlete's current pain and symptoms - it is absolutely critical to treat the villain and and not the victim. By this I mean that very often the body part that is injured, or where an athlete feels pain is the end result of limitations at some other joint in the body. If a therapist only treats pain the athlete may feel better, but the problem will never truly be fixed and it will result in the athlete being back on the treatment table very soon for the same issue....or worse.
Every athlete's body is a group of interdependent joints, muscles, bones and tissue....Treat the total package!!!
Athletic Background
Former collegiate baseball player. I now focus on power lifting with the occasional detour into Crossfit training to scratch my persistent high intensity itch. I also enjoy taking man-size hacks in slow pitch softball on the weekends. Also, I do my best to avoid catastrophic wrecks on my mountain bike and the ski slopes (I have failed miserably recently at this).
I have lots of really good friends that that keep telling me I need to take up golf, but I just don't see that happening.
